A Fresh Digital Presence for Meier’s Meat Processing

I recently had the opportunity to design and build a new website for Meier’s Meat Processing, and the goal from the start was simple: create a clean, modern site that reflects the quality, tradition, and professionalism they bring to their work every day.

Meat processing is a hands-on, detail-driven industry built on trust, consistency, and reputation. The website needed to communicate all of that clearly while also making it easy for customers to find information, understand services, and get in touch.

Designed with Clarity in Mind

One of the main priorities for this project was clarity. Visitors shouldn’t have to dig to find what they’re looking for. The new site organizes information in a straightforward way, with a layout that guides users naturally through services, contact details, and key business information.

We focused on:

  • Clean navigation that works across all devices

  • Simple, readable content structure

  • A design that feels professional without being overly complicated

Built for Mobile Users

A large portion of users today will visit the site from their phone, whether they’re checking hours, looking for services, or trying to contact the business quickly.

The site was built to be fully responsive, meaning it adapts seamlessly to mobile, tablet, and desktop screens. Buttons are easy to tap, text is easy to read, and pages load quickly—making the experience smooth no matter how someone accesses it.

Highlighting What Matters Most

Instead of overloading the homepage with unnecessary elements, the design focuses on what customers actually care about:

  • Clear explanation of services

  • Easy ways to get in touch

  • A professional introduction to the business

The goal is to reduce friction and make it as simple as possible for a potential customer to take the next step.

Built to Grow with the Business

Another important consideration was flexibility. As Meier’s Meat Processing continues to grow, the website is structured so it can easily be updated with new content, services, or announcements without needing a complete redesign.

This ensures the site remains a long-term asset rather than something that quickly becomes outdated.

Final Thoughts

This project was a great example of how thoughtful design and practical functionality can come together to support a local business. A well-built website doesn’t just look good—it works as a tool that helps communicate value, build trust, and make it easier for customers to connect.

If you’re a business owner thinking about improving your online presence, having a site that is clear, responsive, and easy to manage can make a meaningful difference.

Kohler Company - Comprehensive Sign Program

Motiska Design has been engaged by Kohler Company to develop a comprehensive signage program across multiple laboratory departments. The project focuses on delivering a clear, organized, and visually cohesive wayfinding and identification system for Kohler’s lab environments.

The sign program spans seven departments: Material Lab, Bathing Lab, Model Shop, Chemistry Lab, Packaging Lab, Faucets Lab, and Fixtures Lab. This includes a range of hanging and mounted signs tailored to the needs of each workspace. Each sign is carefully designed to identify workstations, equipment, and department areas, making navigation seamless for employees and visitors alike.

A key feature of the project is the implementation of a master sign list, organized by department and designed to be flexible across multiple locations. The list provides detailed specifications for each sign, including station identification, quantity, and text content, alongside a reference for consistent sign ID naming.

Motiska Design is also exploring new design concepts for the starting bench area, incorporating larger-scale signs to create a more impactful visual experience. These concepts will be finalized and ready for review shortly, demonstrating Motiska Design’s commitment to blending functional clarity with strong visual design.

“Working with Kohler on this project allows us to combine precision, organization, and visual appeal in a way that directly supports their operational workflow,” said John Motiska, Founder of Motiska Design. “Our goal is to create a signage system that is not only functional but enhances the overall lab environment.”

The Kohler Company signage project is a continuation of Motiska Design’s work in creating tailored, high-quality design solutions for corporate and industrial environments in the Sheboygan area and beyond.

Sheboygan Christian School

It All Begins Here

Motiska Design recently partnered with Sheboygan Christian School to help enhance the school’s campus through thoughtful signage and design planning.

Schools are dynamic environments that serve students, parents, staff, and visitors every day. Clear, welcoming signage plays an important role in helping people navigate campus while reinforcing the school’s identity and mission. For Sheboygan Christian School, the goal was to create signage that would both guide visitors and reflect the character of the school community.

Motiska Design worked with school leadership to evaluate the campus and identify opportunities where signage could improve wayfinding, strengthen the school’s presence, and create a more cohesive environment. By taking a strategic approach, the project focused not only on individual signs but on how each element works together to support the overall campus experience.

The project included the design and planning of signage that helps visitors easily locate key areas such as entrances, offices, and campus facilities. The signage system was developed to be clear, durable, and visually consistent with the school’s identity.

Beyond navigation, the signage helps communicate a sense of welcome and pride in the school community. Well-designed signs can shape the first impression visitors receive when arriving on campus and help create a positive experience for families, students, and guests.

Motiska Design is proud to support organizations that invest in strengthening their communities. Projects like Sheboygan Christian School demonstrate how thoughtful design can make everyday spaces easier to navigate while reinforcing a strong sense of identity.

North Fork • A UVA Discovery Park

Motiska Design has been retained to develop a new Master Sign Plan for North Fork — a discovery park where the University of Virginia’s spirit of ingenuity fuels dynamic collaboration and innovation.

Motiska Design has been retained to develop a new Master Sign Plan for North Fork — a discovery park where the University of Virginia’s spirit of ingenuity fuels dynamic collaboration and innovation.

Located just a few miles north of Charlottesville, Virginia, North Fork spans more than 500 acres and brings together a diverse mix of science and technology firms, government agencies, academic institutions, startups, and nonprofit organizations. The park is designed to be a place where new ideas take shape, partnerships form, and groundbreaking work can grow.

As the campus continues to evolve, clear navigation and a cohesive visual identity are essential to creating a welcoming and functional environment for tenants, employees, and visitors alike. A thoughtful signage program plays a key role in shaping how people experience and move through a place like North Fork.

Motiska Design has been engaged to create a comprehensive signage master plan that will guide the development of the park’s wayfinding and identification system. The project will include a full range of signage types such as entry monuments, vehicular wayfinding signs, pedestrian directional signage, building identification, and building name signage.

Each element of the system will be carefully designed to work together as a cohesive program that reflects the innovative spirit of North Fork while providing practical navigation throughout the campus. The goal is to create signage that is not only functional, but also reinforces the identity and forward-thinking character of the park.

Designing signage for a campus of this scale requires careful planning and coordination. The Master Sign Plan will establish clear guidelines for placement, hierarchy, typography, materials, and color to ensure the system can grow alongside the park while maintaining consistency and clarity.

Motiska Design is excited to be part of a project that supports collaboration, discovery, and innovation. Through thoughtful design and strategic planning, the signage system will help shape the visitor experience and strengthen the identity of North Fork as a destination for forward-thinking organizations.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the project develops.
